Forgiveness is not about them. It's about us.
As human beings, we are so forgetful. And than at the same time we hold & remember everything that happened in past!!! We don't get over with that. We pin weak people for their weaknesses and praise strong people for their strength. What we don't understand is that every person on this earth has both sides so why just look at only one dimension?
Why can't we just let ourselves and others live their lives as they wish to live especially when someone is trying to alter ways of doing things. Why we humans can't be forgetful about what 'wrongs' (subjective) were done? Why can't we give and support others in rebuilding their 'blocks' without reminders, pinching incidents and referrals.
'To Err is Human, tis folly to be wise.'
Being wise mean doing things the better way, humans will keep doing errors but wiser is to follow wisdom and be forgetful, provide chances of rehabilitation and revival. Allah also love those who forgive and no one can ever forgive until they forego.
Let's promise today, that we'll try to make our lives easier by letting go others of their misdeeds or simple acts that you/some people disapproved. If someone has relearned than give them chance to relive and grow. This is the first step on the road to inter-personal tolerance leading to communal compassion and empathy. Throwing a burning coal at someone will first burn our own palm.
